TWISTING THE STEM OFF YOUR APPLE
As I sat in Panera, working on a Christmas Movie for our Christmas Service at church, something hit me.
Remember those days when you were a kid and your biggest worry was what letter you would land on when you twist your apple stem off. Praying it would snap off on the letter that began the name of your crush, that way one day you could marry him? (Those were the days!)

They say the when we grow older it is time to put childish things behind us.
Why do we not want to be like children?
The night we filmed for this Christmas movie, we had 10 kids all under the age of 11, and each one was FULL of life. They could create a game and be having the time of their life with a hammer and a piece of wood, or play the drums on their breast plate with a pair of glow sticks.
Not one of the kids, were a stranger to the other. In a group setting each one truly enjoyed the other’s company. There was no judgement, only acceptance!
Why do we too often hush them up, or tell them to sit still? Sure it was crazy and hard to get the filming process finished, but given the choice to spend time with them or a group of adults, sitting around a conference table, I would pick the kids, for sure, anytime!
I definitely had an apple, that day, and the first thing I did was twist the stem off. Let’s just say it landed on a good letter! ;]
I don’t think my inner child will ever leave, and I am a ok with that! I don’t want to become an “adult” who no longer knows how to “live.”
I may need an apple every now and again to remind me, but today, I’m enjoying it!
