What inspired delish by felish?

It all started at the end of my Junior year of College.  For my Senior year, I had to create, work on and present a Senior Project!  Now, this project could be anything we wanted, and in any direction.  Boy, were the wheels turning!  There was so much that I could do, which direction would I go and when could I start?!

Instead of narrowing down my project to just one medium of art I decided to create a direction where I could combine multiply mediums into one large project!  And this is how delish by felish took it’s first steps!

My vision was to create a restaurant/café using my four favorite areas of art, graphics, sculpture, ceramics, and decor.  Graphics, being the menu, sign and business cards.  Sculpture, the table and chairs.  Ceramics, the dish set.  Decor, being how it all tied together as a whole!

Starting in the Summer I began the project and didn’t stop until a week before the finish date!  I can say those months of working on this project have been by far one of my favorite times in my life!  I never grew tired of this project and enjoyed every minute of it!  The joy of creating something out of nothing and seeing the finished project is indescribable!

Definitely, wanted to use walnut.  The dark rich color of walnut is just impossible to pass up!  From plaining the wood to laying out each piece based on the grain of the wood, my project was well on it’s way.

Nothing is finished without business cards.

On to the Graphics – Designing the menu was so fun!  The best part was getting to fix the few items I chose to include photos of!  YUM – those dishes were delish!sandwiches

No Café is finished with out an Open Mic Night of some sort.

The Ceramic Dish Set!  There is just something about just you and a wheel!  No one else around.  Just creating and molding the clay in the direction you want, but letting it do it’s own thing all at the same time.  I do miss those days, spending hours in the Art Annex, music on and creating!

Such a challenging project but the outcome was so worth the work!

I was able to share a gallery exhibit with my classmates and dear friends.  Spending four years in 3 hour art classes really unites a class.  I am grateful for the friendship, encouragement, and constructive criticism they offered me!

… and that is how delish by felish began, from a simple college project.  A project that started out by just a thought and within a few months was shaping into a piece of art!
